Pam's Art Work

Working mostly in dry media, I tend to focus on soft pastel, pencil and ink, with the occasional dabble with watercolour.

Subjects often come from my own photographs when doing landscapes, or from close friends when doing animals, birds and insects.

I find art and photography complement each other in many ways, and it is now hard to express a preference for one or the other as they are both expressive creatively.

I have recently experimented with a more imaginative theme, using patterning, inspired by Klimt. The work is all monochrome in ink and pencil.

Over the past 12 months I have had requests to make pet portraits- not my usual genre. Its challenged me , but has made me observe more closely and experiment with textures- so a learning curve! The outcomes do depend on the quality of the photographs, which in these instances haven't been my own. And working from a photo of an animal I've never met also challenges as you have no idea of character! It's been a useful project , and would be happy to attempt others should the opportunity arise.
